Notes For Writers
The Futurian is intended for a general and not an academic audience. We are interested in publishing material about the experienced future as it affects every day life. The work could be presented in various formats and styles, on a factual basis or in a fictional representation. All pieces submitted need to be written clearly, avoiding jargon and specialist language. Our preference is for short and sharp sentences that use short words rather than long ones. Our key requirement is clarity of exposition.
It is intended that the publication will be made available free of charge. Unfortunately that means we are unable to pay authors for their content. The benefits as an author are reputational rather than financial.
If submitting work, please send it to us in a Word file, with no formatting, written in double spaced, 12 point character, Arial font. A covering e-mail ought to accompany the file, outlining what the article is about, what it seeks to achieve, and who the intended audience might be.
Articles should normally be 1,000 to 1,200 words in length. Foot notes, end notes, and quotations should be avoided. The article should contain your voice, so references to other voices should be avoided.
If accepted for publication, the author will retain the copyright to the piece under English Law. They will grant EUFO the exclusive worldwide rights to electronic publication.
Upon receipt of the first draft of the article, the editors will either (a) accept the piece as submitted, (b) accept the piece subject to revisions, or (c) reject the piece entirely. The editors aim to ensure that this process takes no longer than two weeks from receipt. The editors reserve the right to edit the article for length, grammar, and sense making prior to publication and without the approval of the author. Once an article has been accepted for publication, the editors will ensure electronic publication and send the author a link to their piece.
All correspondence should be addressed to Stephen Aguilar-Millan, Director of Research at EUFO, who may be contacted by e-mail at: [email protected].
